Maple Dining Table

I designed and built this table to suit my clients’ needs: a big, sturdy farmhouse table, good for hosting groups, making large pots of sauerkraut, playing games around.

In the middle is the Soft Maple tree from which the three table top boards came. The aprons and legs were made with Spalted Maple.

I wrote about this project as I worked on it; one of the essays is about working at the sawmill cutting up the boards for this project. Making this table from a beloved family tree was deeply satisfying. This tree has given us so much and I’m happy to know it will live in the heart of my clients’ home.
