Event: Crafting Gifts and Building Community
Saturday, April 20, 10 a.m.
Bell Arts Room, Winona Public Library
Free and open to the public
Join Taliesin, a local artist who breathes life into wood, on an exploration where craftsmanship meets community. Taliesin will share stories about the evolution and process of crafting eight unique, handmade welcome gifts for families moving into their brand new Habitat for Humanity homes. Each of the items—made from beautiful hardwoods sourced right here in southeastern Minnesota—along with prototypes and samples, will be on display during the presentation.
Taliesin is a woodworker, writer, and artist living in Winona. She designs and builds heirloom-quality wood furniture and decor out of sustainably harvested Minnesota hardwoods. Alongside this, she writes a bimonthly newsletter on her experiences working in this craft and becoming an artist.

When plans run up against reality
I’m now getting the chance to make a living from the efforts of my two hands. Just because it’s a dream come true, doesn’t mean every day will bow down and go the way I want.
